I know it is really green and white but -
To the left is Blackthorn, the fruit is the Sloe. It flowers March/April and did you know that Witches used the wood for their wands and Staffs.
To the right is Whitethorn or more commonly known as Hawthorn or May, the fruit is haw berries a rich food source for birds and insects. It flowers in May.
It is a Pagan symbol for fertility.
Both are from the Rosaceae family and the flower is very similar although the leaf is quite different.
Both are a haven for wildlife and nesting birds.
