Butterfly or Moth?

I don't know if this is a tiny butterfly or a tiny moth . I looked it up in my Collins Nature Guide but didn't recognise it amongst the many photos. I really needed to get it with it's wings open but that didn't happen.

Did it rest with its wings down more often or with its wings up? I have been told by several moth/butterfly experts that butterflies rest with their wings spread out, while moths rest with their wings upright. And the pictures I've taken of them seem to prove that out. However, a still shot doesn't always show that. It's quite pretty whatever it is! Good catch.

@olivetreeann Hi Ann, It sat with its wings up and I waited and waited but it never opened them or flew away. I could not get any closer as there was a fence between us.
