more rocks

Spent most of the afternoon moving rocks from the art trailer to the garden -- in the rain, of course. The rocks go all around the front of the school.
they look great! A little piece of the kids. When the 8th graders graduate from our Montessori school, each one makes a little 4x4 mosaic tile. The tiles are installed as part of a chair rail down the main hallway. They add to it every year. We still visit Scott's carrot and Susan's skull and crossbones when we're there.

@margonaut I love that! One of my graduate classes is taught in a school that has tiles like that -- I'd love to incorporate that idea at my school -- they would definitely weigh less than these rocks! We are thinking that the safety inspector is going to make us move these next week. Hoping she's/he's not coming on Monday because we want to have them out for our literacy night book festival.

I can't believe the physical labor you did for this! Surely they will pass safety inspection. Here's a photo of my girl with her graduation tile several years ago. https://365project.org/margonaut/2012/2012-05-29

@margonaut I love the picture of your daughter with her tile!! We are keeping the rocks out for now -- hopefully till the end of the year. Yay! We aren't exactly sure how to send them home with the kids as it's surely a safety hazard to send home 500 kids each with a huge rock in their backpack. Definitely didn't think that one through! (Although in my defense I asked for MUCH smaller rocks!)
