Happy birthday Mum by winshez

Happy birthday Mum

Happy birthday to my amazing mum...87 today! Just want to say thanks mum for everything...we didn't have much when we were growing up but you made sure we had what we needed, constantly going without yourself. We had an awesome childhood, trips to the farm at New Norcia to visit Aunty Thora, Northam to visit Aunty Nell, Bindoon and Aunty Edna. Picnics with Aunty Val and Uncle Len also with Joan and Allan. Such simple but lovely memories :)
Not sure how you kept your sanity with us three girls constantly arguing & bickering with each other, but you did, though we sometimes got chased with that bloody straw broom of yours or had a tin of baby powder thrown in our direction...well deserved if you ask me.
Thanks for making us girls the strong women we are today.
You've been my rock when I've needed you and now it's my turn to be your rock.
Love you Mum xxx
P.S...love the look of concentration and the way you're "holding your tongue right" while you struggle to unwrap your present without tearing the paper :)
Awesome picture.

Congratulations on your mom's birthday. And lovely job with your description, too. Most enjoyable. And I can sympathize with your mom, too, because we have three girls. I never chased them with a straw broom, but that's just because I never thought of it. Wish I'd heard that tip a little sooner. Hope you both enjoyed the day.

@mbrutus oh dear, you poor thing, 3 girls is not an easy task hahaha...how you both retained your sanity is testament to good parenting skills. Mum is suffering from the beginning of dementia, not an easy thing for her or us, however she had a lovely day spent with family and extended family.

@winshez Sorry to hear of your mom's dementia. But so happy to hear that she had a nice birthday and your family can share another memory together. Several years ago, my late mother in law received treatment for lung cancer just in time to prolong her suffering for several years which eventually lead to some brain tumors which caused dementia like symptoms. And while I would not wish such things on anyone, I do remember some fairly fond memories of certain times (which I tried to capture with the odd photo or five.) I wish you and your family more happy memories that sad ones going forward. I know they will be well recorded with your wonderful photos.
