My First Star Night by yaorenliu

My First Star Night

Wellington Photographer Mark Gee organised a photography night. What a perfect night. There are 1100 people signed up. This is my first try. The lens picks up more stars than my naked eyes.
wow - i could stare up at that all night

Super clear skies. You must be so far away from city lights.

@kali66 Here is Mark's tutorial and I found it very useful. I had a look at your photo, I think your camera's exposure time is tricked by the city light rather than star light, you may not have enough exposure for the sky, I turned to sea in this shot because there are so much light along the beach. I will post the one with light today.

@yaorenliu i use a kit lens, use the widest aperture and set to the max time of 30 secs. and highest iso. is 1600. the only other thing i can do is use another wide lens and bulb, but i think if i do more than 30secs the stars will move. i just bought a 28mm f2-8 lens to try off trademe for $10

Do you belong to a club in wgtn or did you pay for this tutorial? my son is in wgtn and hasnt used his camera much yet, i need to get him a kit lens as his is faulty and he struggles with the fully manual lens i gave him.
