Very excited to see these rare birds. Would have like to get closer, but was in the middle of a golf tournament at Wairaki international resort. Didn't want to hold the field up! The course is actually a wildlife sanctuary, and the birds are quite tame. They are flightless, and look like rather fat Pukeko's with short legs!
