Love the layers with the hills and the mist ... but I think the tree dominates too much .. if you turned more to the right you may have got more of those lovely hills.. Like the goats in the foreground...
I noticed with both your picture a lovely tree but is it on the 1/3 line (the trunk that is). THe rule of thirds comes in a lot on landsacape. THough don't look at me. Knowing and doing are two different things. Sometimes I edit that way.
@joansmor Thanks Joan, you're right about the rule of thirds. And no it isn't. It was a leap out of the car shot, while the sun was actually out, and before the goats raced off. I shall rethink my choice. I've another 100 or so, to go at LOL
@yorkshirekiwi are you allowed to crop? I quick crop would make all the difference. Take as much off the bottom as you do the left side to keep the dimensions the same. Wouldn't take much.
I really like how you have captured the misty layers with the wild goats in the foreground. I do agree the tree is a bit distracting so maybe using the tree as a frame on the left would expose more of that awesome light on those hills?
Although I like the other one a lot I think this one is better for the landscape assignment. I'd like to see it with the suggested crop on the left and bottom - I think that would look good.
You have beautiful light and shadow making interesting layers across the scene and the goats lead the eye to the majestic tree which has good detail. You might crop part of the rock on the left so that majestic tree is more on the thirds line. To keep the same format, you will have to take some vertical so take the bottom rather than the top. But I would say it is a photo to be proud of as is.
