The Ungrateful Giant

It may not be the best shining cuckoo photo you’ll ever see, but it is my first ever sighting — so I was just delighted to get a shot off at all. This big baby was hot on the heels of his adopted mum, a tiny little grey warbler, chasing her relentlessly through the trees and demanding to be fed. She must have been utterly exhausted trying to stay one step ahead of him. Not a perfect image, but a fascinating glimpse into one of nature’s more lopsided family arrangements
