Old Monopoly by yorkshirekiwi

Old Monopoly

These are 2 of the counters on my very old Monopoly set. The set belonged to my father. It's a set that was made during WWII. All metal was used for ships and guns, so these are made out of cardboard, slotted into a wooden stand. In this set there is also a tatty top hat and battleship. The red racing car appears to have disintegrated altogether. As has the original box. Everything is now stored in an equally old Quality Street tin.
Interesting I've never seen a set that's not metal. I read some where that a lot of the use of metal in the warwas largely symbolic such as cutting the tops off ornate railings as it was the wrong type of steel!

Ahh, how lovely, I bet the old Quality Street tin is much bigger than the modern tins! (or should I say plastic tubs)
