A Murmuration of Starlings

Felicity @fbailey asked if a 'murmuration of starlings' shot would follow my Aberystwyth pier one a couple of days ago. So with weather and sky looking promising I went down to the pier in the late afternoon today in the hope of getting one. They put on a good display.
@fbailey I got lucky today, Felicity

fantastic, when i first came here there was a flock of starlings out on the big rock you see in my photos of the sea, but i was told the conservation department poisoned then to protect some endangered skinks that lived there, i havent seen a murmuration since.

great capture, david. it is a wonderful feeling every time you get to see nature at work.

@kali66 - in Canada they wouldn't do that. heck, they're not even trying to cull those pesky pigeons, or the animal rights activists would be up in arms.

We had the great thrill of seeing a murmuration last winter. Isn't it a wonderful spectacle? Lovely shape your Starlings have created,

What s fabulous spectacle to see and wonderful to catch an image. It’s like watching water change direction and flow back on itself. Never photographed it but it is a rare treat to see. Lovely.

Just like a whale tail! There are murmurations around Brighton pier at dusk but I have found it really hard to get decent shots, This is terrific!
