Bottle Opener by zambianlass

Bottle Opener

This is James my cousin opening bottles the African way. This is a skill I have never quite mastered but the guys are initiated at a young age and all pop open bottles this way. James is a guide in the Luangwa Valley. This is where he works: http://www.bushcampcompany.com/bushcamps/chindeni.php but during the rainy season the camp floods so he comes to help my dad on the farm.
good photo. Our kiwi lads do the same thing. Although the lads these days tend to drink out of screw top bottles.

Terrific shot. It is obviously a male skill because when you are gasping for a beer and there is no bottle opener available then this is the only way!

When my husband (true Englishman) first saw folk in Africa doing this he was astounded. I have never mastered this either. Fab shot of adaptation African style. Love it!

ha ha - looks like a pro - leave this kind of skill to the guys - they have to show off at something and we women excell at sooooo much - nice colours and clear shot :o)

Great slice of life shot! I visited the link you shared and swooned. Such beauty! The photos of the elephants visiting the reception area of the lodge were amazing!

I used to use this technique in my younger years, but it resulted in at least some spilled beer (the one on James' right hand is gonna lose something). I soon realized that's alcohol abuse, so now I always carry a Swiss Army Knife to always open my bottles upright!

Cool! Wish I could do it.
