My heart is very sad. Those of you who have followed my photo journey over the last few months, will know the star of this photo as "Prada the Beagle from next door" who has adopted us as her family and is our sausages BFF :-) By her nature she is a free spirit and a Houdini of the doggie world, as she will always find a way to escape from her garden and enjoy roaming the farm.
Yesterday morning she went missing. Thinking she may have been bitten by a snake we searched the farm from top to bottom but found no sign of her. The farm is enclosed by a very high boundary fence and much as Prada is an escape artist, she has never ventured beyond this fence so we are left thinking she has been stolen.
I have mentioned before that we have many Chinese arriving in Zambia and a habit of theirs which is breaking my heart, is that of eating our dogs. They pay less privileged Zambians to steal peoples dogs. It is a problem that is rife across Africa, not just Zambia, and I believe this is what may have happened to our special Prada.
We are offering a reward for her safe return and hope and pray someone finds and returns her before it is too late. She is such a beautiful little lady and we all miss her terribly.
Sorry to start your weekend off on a sad note. Let's hope our Houdini finds a way to escape this time...
@nicolecampbell thank you :-) xx @pixiemac Me too --- I just don't understand how it is ever acceptable anywhere to eat someones domestic pet... @bobfoto that is so sad Jason - I guess you have seen it first hand too... I have actually stopped going to any Chinese Restaurants here as the SPCA reckon a large number of them are serving up dog but calling it another name.
Oh what sad news! I do hope you find her before it's too late! Gosh terrible news for the dogs in your country! Yes I think I would avoid the Chinese restaurants! She is so beautiful!
What a barbaric and heathen practice..... Incomprehensible and cruel. Your portrait of Prada is so positive in its high key style, lets hope everyone's good wishes on here keep her safe. Fav.
This is a lovely shot of Prada. I really hope they find here soon, that is so awful about people stealing them . It happens here but they use them in labs for testing products...a probable slower and worse death.
Oh my what a sad story. Made even sadder by the fact that these people are apparently not starving, but wealthy enough to pay others to take dogs. I hope you are wrong, and that she comes home safely soon. This is a really great shot of her by the way.
Oh I am so shocked and saddened. Love this beagle she is just gorgeous. I hope and pray she returns safe and well, pleas let us know via the discussion when she returns. :(
Oh my goodness. My heart goes out to you. This has to be one of the saddest situations for these poor dogs, and for Prada. I hope you can find her and that this very sad story takes a turn to a happy ending. I'm so sorry.
Stunning shot. The only place where I saw people eating dog meat was in Vietnam and then it was not all kinds of dogs, only a certain breed. Still found it a bit strange.
SAD! This is a beautiful shot of her and brilliant processing! I empathize with your heartbreak, and pray she shows up soon! I am still gut wrenched from our Zoe's death, our (fur baby) (dog).

Such a lovely high key capture of her!
Great shot & processing.
