"Dory Schmorey" by Weezilou

"Dory Schmorey"

Title compliments of Billy. He wanted me to post a photo of myself with Dill draped across my lap...said the two of us hadn't been in yesterday's picture. When I told him which picture I wanted to use, "the title" above was the response I got. He's lived in Lunenburg too long, and a sight like this is "just another day".

As I was taking pictures here, an "old" man came up to tell me the shop was almost 100 years old, "older than him", he said. He had a thick Lunenburg accent. For an additional pic or two of this location, I found this to share: http://www.housenumbers.ca/lunenburgdoryshop.html

Additionally, for you movie buffs, I heard today that Wesley Snipes & Angela Bassett are in town until Aug 16 to make a movie called "Jumping the Broom". I'll let you know if I learn anything more...

So beautiful. Also, funnily enough, a girl I went to high school with is currently vacationing somewhere in Lunenburg :).

I just LOVE this shot! With all due respect to Billy, I think you made the right choice! How cool that the building has been around for over 100 years. The dinghies they build are just beautiful! I love these little throwbacks to the old days of seafaring. This is a definite favorite!
July 16th, 2010

July 16th, 2010
I am glad you picked this photo. The waterfront photos are so pretty. The reflection on the water is really nice.
July 16th, 2010
What a beautiful view! I miss the sea so much! Stuck in the middle of the US, I'll have to wait to make it back home. Al least, we got a lot of rivers around here...not the same, but i guess it will do for now! ;-) Kitty that loves tomatoe juice? This is so funny, Louise! And i didn't doubt that Dill has gourmet taste... he is such an Aristocat! :-)
July 16th, 2010
This is a favorite!
July 16th, 2010
This shot makes me feel like I am about to step into that boat, make a left turn around the pilons and drift off to sea. Oh, so nice to dream.

@thanks for the comments on my Octo-bubble photo. I did have to laugh when I went to the link (Slava's I think) you suggested for a relaxing and tranquil photo and was glaringly aware of how far from serenity my life is now! If I ever get these kids old enough to help themselves...lol. What a day that will be!
July 16th, 2010
Very nice picture, Louise. I love the boat on land. I feel like it has a story to tell.

I want to paint that scene - it is so beautiful. Has inspired me to think about getting the water colours out.... maybe when I'm off next month....
July 16th, 2010
I'm glad Billy isn't in charge of your daily photo pic - this is a gem! love everything about it!
July 16th, 2010
It's beautiful, and certainly not "just another day" to most of us!
July 16th, 2010
Wonderful shot.

Ira
A really beautiful shot, Louise!
July 16th, 2010
Yes, another beautiful picture.
July 16th, 2010
can't imagine such a lovely imagine becoming commonplace! When you said that it reminded me of a movie I just say call Seducing Dr. Lewis, takes place in a Canadian seaside/island village. I highly recommend it, but you have to read subtitles, unless of course you understand french!
July 16th, 2010
very nice shot, I can almost smell the salt water!
July 16th, 2010
interesting picture so much going on,
July 16th, 2010
Nice, like the position of boat and the boat house on the left.
July 16th, 2010
Wonderful. I like the composition you have used here.
July 16th, 2010

July 16th, 2010
i love the abandoned feel to it. very pretty
July 16th, 2010
I love "every day" nautical scenery shots like this, keep them coming! Dory Schmory is a good funny title, I like the story.
July 16th, 2010
I just noticed Kay's comment above. I will not be one bit surprised if we see a posted photo of Louise with Wesley or Angela or both. She seems to meet all the right people and everyone seems to know her name.
July 16th, 2010
Beautiful. I can almost smell the sea and hear the birds :). Thanks for the recent comments. I actually appended a little more information to the bottom of my post since I got a few questions from folks on how the flash is connected. You can check out my update, but the short answer is I am remotely controlling the external flash. You can also get more information by looking at the Lighting 101 section of http://www.strobist.blogspot.com/. I know, I know...so much to learn and not enough time. Thanks again Louise. Oh and Wesley Snipes?! Didn't know he was around the biz anymore. Guess he's attempting a comeback. :)
July 16th, 2010
great composition. It looks like such a lovely place for a bit of contemplation.
I hope you're right about Cambodia sometimes its hard to see beyond all the corruption and poverty.
July 16th, 2010
Yes, Tanya hit it on the nose...the first thought that came to mind when I saw this was "great composition". This is such a wonderful shot! Like the tale told from the "not-so-100-yr-old" man, too. :-)
July 16th, 2010
Beautiful shot - the water looks oh so relaxing!
July 16th, 2010

July 17th, 2010
That is wonderful. Too bad when people lose the beauty and wonder of where they live. Believe me, no one on the Gulf will take anything for granted for a long time.
July 17th, 2010
i love this scene! looks so summery and relaxing... the way life should be!
July 17th, 2010
Aly
Wow! Awesome shot, Louise!!!!
July 17th, 2010
Yeah Louise!
July 17th, 2010
This is a nicely-composed shot, Louise! I see the oranges and yellows of the boats and think they compliment the blue of the sky quite nicely. :)
July 17th, 2010
Gorgeous! What a beautifully peaceful spot.
July 17th, 2010
I REALLY like this shot. But, and I know with me there are a number of times I throw one in, it would have even been more splendid if you had gone over and asked to have the RV moved. :-)
July 17th, 2010
It looks such a wonderful place!

So calm .. so serene ... :-D ... 'Love' water shots. :)
