Our own Sue Stephenson was a terrific organizer and sent out the word out early of a 365 gathering here in Chicago. We were so close to having a sizable turnout, but in most cases, other family events dwindled the numbers. Our venue changed to a nearby neighborhood pub, and those of us who could be there were amazed that we all lived within a short distance of one another. Steve Stearns joined us for the first time and shared his most spectacular picture of Chicago's "Bean" at sunrise with a double rainbow in the background http://365project.org/sterno/365/2010-08-14. He had to leave before we got the group photo that turned out best...sorry Steve and Ken...(they ended up on the cutting room floor) We spent more than three hours over drinks and dinner and only parted when we did because our mother-to-be was getting tired and she was driving some of us home. All of us in the photo have "365" accounts, and Ken took the picture. There I am once again (feeling I'm on here now way-too-often!), petite and adorable Kerri with the beautiful smile http://365project.org/kerri26/365, my daughters, Ashley http://365project.org/lulu/365/2010-08-29 and Heather http://365project.org/biggirlart/365/2010-08-27 and funny, personable and upbeat Sue http://365project.org/Swazzette/365. I'm so glad to visit you all when I'm in Chicago and Ken and I had a wonderful time this evening. (To those of you who tried to be there but couldn't make it, you were missed!) Let's do it again soon!
For all the comments about my photo today, thank you for so many delightful notes! I spent the day shopping and preparing for a baby shower Sunday at Heather's before getting ready for this evening's gathering so I only had a bit of computer time. Just wanted you to know I think I'll have more time once I'm back in California...
so fun! would love to meet up with some of you fellow 365ers!! thanks for providing their pages too! i'll have to look them up insteading of doing my homework :P
Looks like fun had by all...wish I could have been there. A lady from Chicago joined our dept. just this week. She was telling me about the "Bean" and how cool it is.
WOW!!! What a fantastic experience for you to be apart of! that's so awesome! It certainly looks like you had a wonderful time! Hopefully you'll be able to do it again soon, or make it an annual thing. :D
Such a nice group of 365ers.
We will have to get a meeting underway here in Brisbane or somewhere close to everyone.
Great smiles :D
Good to hear that Dill is coping well :D
What a happy picture! don't worry about the times when you can't hover around 365 - family and friends who are with you must always take priority! We'll be here for the other times.
Lurcher - I hadn't realized that it is an Irish/British specific breed until I did a bit of research. It's related to the greyhound/springhound but a cross with another dog. The one I look after, Angel, belonging to my organist, is mostly whippet by the look of her - maybe a whippet/greyhound mix.... don't know. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lurcher gave me a starting place..... she's fast and I had realized that "thief" is part of the nature - but she always relocates shoes when she visits so I have to be very careful to have them all stored away properly. She doesn't chew them - just gently moves them from place to place!
How fun, I so wish I could have been there to meet you all. I at least was lucky enough to have my own mini meet-up this year. You all look so happy, it must have been a good time. (Or you had too many pints at the pub haha)
It is so great to see the enjoyment in all your faces. One thing I sense Louise is that no matter where you are, you are capable of creating such an enjoyable environment, one where people feel welcome and so special.
Looks like you all had fun. I wish I could have made it. Instead I had to pull a double at work due to emergency patient needs....gotta love the medical field. Great picture and you all look lovely!
Looks like great fun was had by all. Have you considered going on tour - stopping at all the 365 cities/towns? We would all love to see you and you know there are lots of 365 animals that could use some of your love.
Look at how happy we all are! Could it have been those pub ales or the fish & chips? It was sooooo much fun to see you all last night. http://365project.org/Swazzette/365
Next time I will drive and those of us (ahem...you and & me) who could talk all night can do so to our heart's content. Ha! Looking forward to our next meet-up in October! :-)
Sounds like a fun time. I lived in Chicago for a bit after high school, helping out at a crisis center in the Sheridan Park area. Gino's east is still my favorite pizza place in Chicago. Glad you are enjoying time with family in Chicago.
sorry i missed ALL the fun! my mother-in-law didn't feel well so it was a very quick and simple dinner, i can't say i had much fun as you guys but it was to make her happy. so it was worth it :) next time, Louise!
i love that you guys get to meet up and enjoy each other's company in person. :) i thought about heading up to chicago to say hello (i've never been to chicago so it would be a good excuse) but i had plans over the weekend.
