Today is Valentine’s Day - a Valentine typewriter!
I spotted this fabulous 1962 typewriter in the museum on Sunday.
Instantly was wowed by it, I’ve always loved the 60’s era for all things fashion & decor
Who Is Cupid? & why do we have valentines day?
Cupid is often portrayed on Valentine’s Day cards as a naked cherub launching arrows of love at unsuspecting lovers. But the Roman God Cupid has his roots in Greek mythology as the Greek god of love, Eros. Accounts of his birth vary; some say he is the son of Nyx and Erebus; others, of Aphrodite and Ares; still others suggest he is the son of Iris and Zephyrus or even Aphrodite and Zeus (who would have been both his father and grandfather).
According to the Greek Archaic poets, Eros was a handsome immortal played with the emotions of Gods and men, using golden arrows to incite love and leaden ones to sow aversion. It wasn’t until the Hellenistic period that he began to be portrayed as the mischievous, chubby child he’d become on Valentine’s Day cards.
2024 I begin my 3rd Year…
I have absolutely loved and embraced this challenge, I feel incredibly grateful to have discovered 365 when I was learning...
That's a very historic typewriter. My eldest brother still has the one we five siblings inherited from each other. How it came back to the eldest I cannot say.
Happy Belated Valentine's Day to you! I love old typewriters. I like the sound they make too. I used to have one on my mother's writing desk. She loved to type her correspondence, letters, etc. As much as I like old typewriters, I never enjoyed my typing class in middle school. I preferred being creative, expressive and unique with my handwriting. And now we all end up tying on our phones, computers and laptops. :)
I would love to follow you - I adore your Mauritius photos
