Flare & Ice by bluemoon

Flare & Ice

Ah, sun at last! I was beginning to think we'd never see it again but not only is the sun shining bright this morning but everything was glistening with a coating of ice so I stopped on my way home this morning and shot a few flare shots for the theme. It was only -6 degrees when I shot this...it's way up to 0 as I write this!!
I like it! Very dramatic. Nicely done.

That is an amazing shot! I love how the flare is peeking between the tree. I can't even imagine what -6degrees feels like! Wow! Brrrrr!

@jjsooner Careful what you wish for Jennifer, you just might get it!! :) Actually this was one of those mornings where everything was coated with heavy frost but for some reason this tree was actually covered in ice. We never got freezing rain and the roads were only snow packed so it wasn't all that bad. It was just great to FINALLY see the sun this week!

@dmortega @jillpearce @starfisher @peggysirk @bribuccigrossi @lynnmwatson @jonna @girlie @camarobabe @mixiewing @molizard @timandelke @digitalrn Thank you all for your nice comments....it was a beautiful morning BUT too darn cold to spend much time out looking for flare so when I saw this tree I made a quick decision to shoot and go home! I was about to give up ever seeing the sun before the flare theme ended!! Hang in ther molizard, maybe tomorrow will be your turn for some sun! :)

@bluemoon Oh, I know! We've had devastating ice storms here in 2007 and in Jan of this year. I don't want any more of that! It is beautiful, but so destructive. I need to get a good pic at some of our damaged trees. They are so sad yet beautiful because they survived.
And thunder snow is fascinating when it happens!

Lovely shot Paula. I like the off center trees and your flare is great. We are having a proper winter aren't we. BTW you have two photos in the top 20! Congratulations!

@wac Thank you Wendy! It's actually kind of embarrassing since I''ve seen a lot more deserving photos than mine to hold those 2 spots but I'm extremely flattered and tickled pink that's for sure! :)
