This pair was from the very first band of deer I saw when I entered the park today....the rest had already taken off running out into the field. These two kind of had that deer in headlights look...I think they were trying to decide whether they should stand there and hope I didn't notice them or turn tail and run. They stood there for a minute and finally decided to run for the hills.
Nice! My husband and I were just talking about deer on the way home from the train station this afternoon and how the preserve near us is trying to reduce the number of deer. :( I told him we never see them on this side of the preserve so I'm glad you posted this for me today!
They are certainly sizing up the situation. Wonderful shot, Paula. I'm seeing antlers all through the photo in the tree branches. Such a great composition.
