Mount Cook by chikadnz

Mount Cook

This afternoon we left the motorhome parked at Lake Wardell and took the car for a drive alongside Lake Pukaki up to the Aoraki / Mt Cook National Park.

When we last visited this area in 2021 the weather wasn't cooperating, and the mountains were covered with cloud. This time we managed to time it right. We walked a short distance along the Hooker Valley track and were rewarded with views like this.

From Wikipedia: Mt Cook is New Zealands highest mountain. Its height, as of 2014, is listed as 3,724 metres (12,218 feet). It sits in the Southern Alps, the mountain range that runs the length of the South Island.
Beautiful - and great you weren’t clouded out this time.

Isn’t that awe inspiring. Sounds like you took the same route as us. We walked up some steps to a glacier there at the bottom.
