Problem with flash drive

August 7th, 2023
Just wondering if anyone else has trouble storing images on a flashdrive. When I import to Lightroom Classic, it copies to my flash drive, then I back up to the cloud. It works for awhile, but then it starts corrupting the files. When I try to open an image it tells me it's not supported or after processing it saves half the image. Does this happen to anyone else and how do I fix it? Thanks.

@darchibald Two possibilities that I have run into are;
- corrupted flash drive. Have you tried a different flash drive? How large is the flash drive and how much have you on it
- running out of memory on the computer. I use a different edit program that did not clean up the memory after doing a batch of photos. Then when I tried writing to a flash drive, the computer ran out of memory and all kinds of strange things happened.

Currently I am using a solid state drive as an expansion drive for my working drive and first storage drive. I do continuous backup to another expansion drive on the computer. So far no bad luck, touch wood.

@jnr This is my second flashdrive and it keeps happening. Both are 2 terabytes so there is plenty of room.
Perhaps it is memory on the computer. One would think it would say something.
I reformatted the flash drive from fat32 to ntsf and restored the the images (well, it's restoring now). Gonna see if that works.
