Harrowing but important.

WARNING THIS LINK INCLUDES DISTRESSING IMAGES.

I hesitated in posting this but it is one of the responsibilities of the photographer to make such images both as a witness to history and as a commentary on the human condition. Personally, but you must make your own mind up, I think the photographers who report on such events do us all a service. My prayers are with all caught up in this abomination whatever side they find themselves on.

Such photos show that we are all the same, after all...

You're right, it is harrowing. And you are also right that many photographers have put themselves at the forefront of conflicts such as this to bear witness to what these situations do to ordinary people, children . . .

Photography isn't always about the pretty and the beautiful.

These images are hard to look at and brought me to tears. But they are important. Pain, suffering and grief know no 'side'.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I agree that war photographers do so much more than just record and bear witness history. Their photographs remind us that what is most important is our humanity and we must never lose that.

Thank you for sharing - pain and suffering doesn't discriminate on the grounds of ethnicity, sex, age, religious beliefs.....sadly humans do :(

In this day and time of people choosing to believe what they want, it is good that the horror and gruesomeness are shown so that as we sit in our safe homes we don't forget those in peril. Thanks to those brave photojournalists for showing us this. Prayers for any and all involved and for peace to find a way to end these conflicts - forever.

i look at these images and wonder why it is we can never learn to do better... to be better... why oh why is this horror deemed necessary?

Humans haven’t learnt much from History at all thinking of all who have lost lives due to no fault of their own brings one to tears 😓

@allsop Where are the images from Day One when Hammas attacked and butchered the Israelis...desecrated the bodies, burned invalids too heavy to move and decapitated babies? They sent those images out on Face Book to be shown in all their diabolical gruesomeness. Ben Shapiro on Daily Wire, in anguish for his people, showed what was done on Day One. Glenn Beck on The Blaze did the same. I think that many people picked up on the news story at a later date when Israelis fought back after being attacked. This country, America, was founded on Judeo-Christian Ethics and Beliefs, and I'm horrified at how far America has strayed from what our founding fathers built for us. Too late we found out what Hitler did to the Jewish People as they hid their intentions. Hammas filmed and showed us what they intend to do. Personally, I can no longer "just wish people could just get along". I'm outraged, and I am speaking out for my beliefs. I have to ask "DID YOU WATCH the attacks on the Jewish settlements and the people in their homes, the butcher taking a hoe to chop off the head of a dead Israeli, The bloody floor covered with the bodies of a dead family and the Demon who shot the body once again as the force of the bullet made it rise off the floor? Put yourself in the place of the living family member who opened FB to see the bloodbath that was once your family. If for speaking out I am "shunned" or "Cancelled", I am proud of doing so. What you've seen in the images here, taken by war journalists, came days after Day One. I ask you each again, DID YOU SEE and Bear witness to what happened in Israel on Day One? I apologize for being confrontational, but without that, you have missed a largest part of the story

Don't apologize!! I,too, have been raging about it. It is, indeed, a time of choosing! I did see!

My comments on this site were not meant to say anything beyond the role of photography. However, what I didn't say and probably should have, is that photography is also a tool in propaganda wars and we must be able to decode that and not be duped. @Weezilou

@ankers70 Thank you Suzanne for sharing the link. I carry on in my daily life, but I'm truly in anguish for all of humanity. My closest friend in 3rd grade was part of a family who escaped before the Holocaust. "I heard talk" early in my life and always imagined it could never happen again. I'm shattered that this hasn't stricken the hearts of everyone who should have said, "Never Again". Again, thank you for your words of support.

My heart is with you! I have family connections where whole families were destroyed and it is a present and felt anguish. My grandchildren will pay the cost unless it is stopped.

@Weezilou definitely no apology necessary....like @ankers70 my comments here were about photography as I believe @allsop were too.
I have been following since day one and have seen many but not all images. Since childhood I have been aware of the holocaust as my mum worked in a Jewish nursing home/retirement village as did I during my teens. I spent a lot of time talking to the residents during those years, hearing many stories of heartbreak, loss, horror, courage and survival. I remember the first time, as a child, seeing the tattooed numbers on one of the men and him telling his story.....
Hamas are terrorists who will use and kill whoever, they do not care, to serve their heinous agenda.

@annied @Weezilou et al. Just to put the record clear My original post was and is about photography and entirely neutral regarding one side or the other. My final sentence says exactly how I feel and bears repeating "My prayers are with all caught up in this abomination whatever side they find themselves on."

@allsop Thank you, and yes, you're absolutely fair in repeating what you offered for review in the first place. My prayers, too, are for ALL of humanity who didn't beg for this fight. Tragically, hearing what I did from childhood like @annied and @ankers70 , it was inconceivable to me that this could happen again. My mind finds it impossible to conjure the barbaric images that I did see for myself on Day 1 and the horror of that has only been magnified by the uprising of support begging for more of the same! My Faith is all I have left to sustain me. I DO read too much as I try to learn all I can about what is happening and to be as well-versed as possible if I engage in conversation or discourse. While many might take to FB to share their angst, I truly do trust this community who lend support and civility when speaking to one another. To all of you, thank you for that.
