7th September 2014

Today it was the 150th anniversary of the 150th anniversary of the London and South Western railway Thames Valley Extension Line in Hampton. The day involved the centre of the town being closed to traffic and a full-sized steam train with carriages arriving on a low loader. In addition there were lots of vintage and classic vehicles including original Route Masters. They have so much more character than the modern buses and everyone seems to be affectionate about them based on the length of the queues of people waiting for a ride on one.

For some reason I think has has a 1950s feel about it, it may be the trees and the little girl in the dress (ignore the fluoro jackets though!).

Here’s my article with more images from the day - http://www.demotix.com/news/5702683/hampton-transport-gala-2014#media-5702542
I agree about the 50s feeling. Great pov, and I love the way the old buses have been maintained so that they look so shiny.
