I was in the main square at lunchtime today, which is before the farmers market ends, so I got several nice shots. I liked this one the most of this cool vegitable Romanesco Broccoli that looks like a math fractal, which is something that looks the same no matter what scale you look at it in. I'll have to buy one next time and let you know how it tastes.
Great shot Steve, we have these at our farmers market too. We refer to it as the christmas tree cauliflower. I have not eaten one, just photographed it! Ha. Let me know how it tastes.
We grow these in our garden and they taste better than the 'straight' broccoli, I think. They always look too pretty to eat; this is a lovely photo. Saw it on the popular page.
To answer some questions, this was taken at about 50mm with my 17-85mm lens, so no macro. The veggie is really large. The entire head had a diameter of 25-30cm. I cropped this a little to remove a pesky leaf that was curling in, so the actual area of the photo is probably 15x12cm I would estimate. No titlshift was employed.
They are always like that. I am not sure why they chose it that way, but it's kind of cool because the sun rays sometimes shine through down onto the lake - it's neat.
