One of my favourite dog walks is to start with friends in Cambourne and walk to the Abantu coffee shop in the neighbouring village of Bourn. Cambourne is a modern but very pleasant 'new village' and Bourn is an old village with some really beautiful houses, a ford crossing the road and the fertility clinic where Louise Brown, the first IVF baby, was 'conceived'. Abantu is a really great little coffee shop and is extremely baby and dog friendly with tethering and water bowls outside (babies are allowed inside!!). Everything is fairtrade and it also has a lovely gift shop which stocks crafts made in the owner's native S Africa. I didn't take great pics - too hungry after a saga with a dropped dog lead - but these are heart shaped Valentine cup cakes to give you an idea.
gorgeous picture - I'd forgotten about Abantu - it was about to close for a while last time we went - I'm glad it's back - let's book a dog walk ending there in a couple of weeks...
@islawight I had cheese & bacon toasty with home-made potato & celery soup for a fiver! Splendid - but I've been known to drag the kids there on a promise of cake when they're closed on a Sunday - long walk home....
