We were photographing the Milky Way, and Taffy said it was only a partially visible one and not too great, so she started photographing the skyline instead. And then, she exclaimed, "The Northern Lights! On your first night here, the Northern Lights!" Truly a spectacular start to my week here. All I had was the inexpensive version of the 50mm lens, but I felt lucky indeed.
What an incredible night sky we had! I love the smooth tones in this and how vibrantly they light up the sky. The coastal line makes a perfect lead in to the scene.
