Looks poignant and iconic. Covid put a lot of businesses on the back foot or out completely, I suspect history will not be kind to the policy of lockdowns.
Delightuful capture and composition. The guy sitting on the bench loos like he is holding a plant on his lap . I lovely way to travel in luxury. Pity the service hasn't started again.
Was the man playing the guitar? The photo shows so much! The lovely station, the mountains in the the background and the wires add such an interesting aspect.
I forgot to add the beautiful lantern lights.
I was thinking the same @joansmor Either he is just taking a rest or he’s waiting for the train. It’s a lovely shot and the station still looks in great shape
Nice shot Diana. What do they do with your unused stations - a lot of ours end up as tourist attractions with week-end markets etc. or as community centres.
@joansmor@grammyn He was a busker with a guitar, he was not playing while we were there. Many tourists walk around the station, so maybe he makes a buck or two :-)
@robz A few of our unused stations are markets Rob. This one being part of a national monument which Matjiesfontein has become, will not be allowed to do it :-)
I forgot to add the beautiful lantern lights.
I so enjoy train travel holidays..
