This was the location of the Brighouse Parkrun, but no longer the park has been closed because it is going to form part of the 22 million pound Brighouse Flood Alleviation Scheme, 87 trees will be cut down, two lakes will be dug out, the beck diverted, it well reopen in 2026 after completion of the works
A great collage to capture the start of this big project! I'm sorry that 87 trees need to be cut down for this. And Lou Ann is right: before and after photos, Peter :)
As Lou Ann and Heather said, it's marvelous that you're marking the start of the change! Too often I wish I'd done that, but not until the projects are over!
@onewing Yes indeed Babs the park was under water in the Boxing Day floods of 2015 plus most of the centre of Brighouse, no Parkrun here until middle of 2026, but there are 4 others within half an hour’s drive:)
@365projectorgheatherb Thank you Heather I intend on doing progress images whilst it’s being done, all the trees plus many more will be installed plus lots of work to incorporate diversity in nature and improve the park for every one:)
@Weezilou Thank you Louise for your comment, I attended the consultation and planning meetings so I knew when the work was planed to start I took photographs then plus these as the enabling work start, this section of the park is now closed to the public and fenced off:)
@ludwigsdiana Thank you Diana for your comment looking at the plans it will be a wonderful area to walk, they are planning to improve the area by planting more tree’s to encourage wildlife even have Trout in the beck and Kingfisher’s:)
@robz Thank you Rob for your comment, lots more trees to be planted but unfortunately they will take years to grow to height of the ones removed, but all in all it with be a much improved landscaped park:)
