I'm not a serious coin collector, but when I come across special circulation coins, I like to keep them. In the States the other day, we got this one in our change. I did some Googling and learned that this coin is part of a series of quarters produced by the US mint to honour American women. It seems it was originally meant to be one woman from each state and territory, but has been scaled back, so now there will only be 20 designs rather than 56. I imagine that's made it much more difficult for the people in charge to choose who is featured (not that I would've expected that to be easy anyway)!
