Whether you choose to believe or not to believe the story of the 'incarnation of Jesus' as recorded in the Bible the reason that many people are on holiday and enjoying being with family and friends at this season is the 'celebration' of the aforementioned birth.
Other people of other faiths, or no faith at all chose to 'celebrate' or not in different ways.
Whatever your views are it is very nice to have a few days off the work treadmill and relax and enjoy the time with friends and family!
