Roebling Bridge by alophoto

Roebling Bridge

This was a shot of the Roebling Bridge in Cincinnati, OH, taken from our meet up there yesterday. We walked across the bridge for a view of the city across the river.

An interesting thing about this bridge is that it is the precursor to the Brooklyn Bridge. Roebling designed them both and I think that this one got him the job in Brooklyn.

I liked this processing, my husband preferred regular color. Yesterday I went with his shot choice and today I go with mine.
Great composition - I like the colour too!

@snoboard1010 Thanks so much, Issy!

@sugarmuser Aw, thank you, lady. In the end, I like it too. At first I was annoyed when cars messed up my photo, but it adds, I think:).

@tbats22 Super appreciate your sweet comments and the fav, friend!

@paulien Thank you, Paulien!

@melody2289 Oh, thanks so much, Melody!!

@sadiec Me, too, lady. I like it this way, but the blue of it (it's actual color) is pretty unique as well. Something about this, I loved so I went with it. Thanks!

@archaeofrog Yes, the blue is nice. That's why I kept it in the other shot. How perfect would this have been if a horse buggy was there instead of the car?! Thanks, Katie.

@kwind I loved the lines, too. Thanks about the confidence with the processing, Kim!

@nana2r Thanks so much, Miss Carren!

@dapinsker Awesome. Thanks, Marc!

@aleksandra It's vintage! Thanks so much, lady!

@tonydebont Thanks, Tony. I had to step onto it for a second to take this one. It was a tiny bit scary, but I checked for cars first.

@swguevin Thanks so much, Miss Sheila. Did you see that the suspect was apprehended today in the snowman murders? Such a cold character!

@katiebrenkert Thanks so much, Katie. I was glad that I had a different one from the others put up thus far. We all had a different take on this cool bridge.

@tanja_1211 Thanks so much, Tanja!! Appreciate that!

@automaticslim Aw, so great to hear. I loved the great rivets and lines, too. Bridges are so nice. Thanks, Andy!

@kbalychev Really appreciate that, sweet lady! Thank you!

@amandalomonaco Now you need to go back and charter a horse drawn carriage! Or I'd settle for a wedding party ...
January 8th, 2013
@archaeofrog Maybe a perfect combination of the two!!
January 8th, 2013
@amandalomonaco Yessssssss!
January 8th, 2013

January 8th, 2013
Thats a fabulous shot! He designed and built the Brooklyn Bridge too - Fav!.
January 8th, 2013
@helixconcepts Thanks so much, Laura!!

@bardejov It kinda does, huh? Thanks so much, lady. I was a little unsure as the real color was great...the bridge is blue! Glad I went with this one, though!

@michaelelliott I know, I read up and learned that. How cool! Did he live to see it finished I understand that he got really ill while it was being constructed. Thanks so much for your history and the fav, Michael!

I love old bridges! They have so much character. Not like the sterile look of modern day bridges. Great capture Amanda!
January 9th, 2013
@skipt07 I do, too. The Golden Gate is one of my favorites. Thanks so much for your comments, Skip!
January 9th, 2013
Fantastic capture Amanda. I know my opinion is equivalent to sea plankton, but I think your choice of color adds a great feel to this. Great pov and lighting. Awesome bridge. Thanks for the history.
January 10th, 2013
@losthorizon No it means a tad more than that, Beau!:) He always prefers color, but this bridge is a particularly cool color...a stunning blue. From this processing, it could be silver and blah. I see his point, but I am happy with my choice and glad that you agree. Do you have a new camera yet?
January 10th, 2013
@amandalomonaco I think it gives an old fashioned feel to it. Great choice. As for the camera...no...just mailed the macro lens back yesterday. :( So sad. Once I get the money back, looking at either getting the Nikon D3200 or the D5000. Might take a month or so though to get up the extra cash. Till then, I still have the ol' faithful Canon. I'll be buried with that camera. Lol Thanks for asking. :)
January 10th, 2013
What a great shot of this old bridge, Amanda. I really like your processing.
January 11th, 2013
@losthorizon At least you have a good backup! Hope that you can get the new baby soon!

@darsphotos Thanks so much, Darlene!!
January 12th, 2013

February 5th, 2013
great capture and pov. I like how you captured the year. I was born in Cincinnati and raised there and in Harrison. I remember this bridge. Is it the singing bridge?
February 28th, 2013
@dmdfday Yes, it is called the singing bridge. It is such a pretty one. Thanks, Diane. I am really enjoying living in Cincinnati!
February 28th, 2013
I just love this. Great lines, processing, and inclusion of the single car for scale. Fav.
