We are officially out of hibernation with the weather finally warming up again. Today it is in the 70's!! Yesterday evening, we hiked around a local park and I loved seeing all of the people out and about walking, running and playing in short sleeves.
My camera is still shooting oddly high key shots. I keep adjusting it, but haven't gotten it quite right yet. The sky was really gray but came out pure white. I tried to fix it with some fun picmonkey editing. Just found it last week and like some of the cool things it can do.
This is such a cool composition and I love the activity of everyone in it! I love how they're mostly coordinated in their clothes too! Very nice shot and I'm glad you're feeling better and have been able to get out!
Wonderful shot Amanda. So nice to see the warm weather activity starting...yippee! You timed this just right. I like the arm swing on the person to the far left.
@jodimuli Love that you love all keys. You are so funny. Thanks so much for the encouragement and the sweet fav! I hope to catch a bike here someday. Once I missed getting a guy on a skateboard go by. Love this great hill and all its shot possibilities!:)
@michaelelliott Thanks, Michael! I love shots like this and was glad to have a great hill where I could accomplish this. Next time, I make sure that the camera is in the right setting. Sheesh!
@june Brrrr...hope you warm up soon!! I'm feeling a tad hot, I gotta say. We turned our air on even.
@copperheadglass Thanks so much, Meredith!! Kinda funky, but it worked. I had to save the sky from being white!
@still_beachradish Thanks, lady. The processing may have been over the top (my hubby hated it!), but it worked, I think.
@michaelelliott I missed getting a bike. Couldn't focus in time. And was too slow to the draw when a skateboarder rolled by. This family was nice and slow for me:). One day...
@keppelj Justin, I agree...I am not usually a huge fan of over the top processing. I screwed up with this photo, though and had to try to redeem it. Glad that it mostly worked here. My hubby didn't like it, though. Appreciate your comments!
@northy Thanks so much, Northy. Glad you like it. I hope I don't turn processing crazy with all of the new things opened up to me with Picmonkey:)!
@adamj I loved her swingy arm, too, and that they were all in a line and the dog was just right. I tried to get several other shots of bikes, a skateboard, a scooter and a family pushing a stroller. This was the one that came out best. Coundn't focus on the bike in time. A bike shot would be awesome!! Thanks, Adam!
@emrob Thanks so much, my Mandy friend. So so glad that it is getting springy and nice here! I needed that!
@ozziehoffy Cassandra, thanks for your comments. I think that I am shooting with the first metering option...not spot. I had screwed with my exposure settings recently just playing around and I guess never got them back to normal. I finally reset them to 0 and all seems right in the camera world again. I am still pretty green with my dslr. I've had it since November and don't take enough time to play and figure things out. Can't wait to know it better.
@archaeofrog Yikes...snow again. Keep warm tomorrow!! Snow day? If so, have fun!
@rachelwithey Love your description of them as stick people. How is your challenge going? I did capture some movement in water today, but that doesn't really count. Still need to research panning! Thanks, lady!!
@httpgeffed Thanks so much, Colleen. I was so happy to be at the right place at the right time for this!
@swguevin Thanks, lady. I've been wanting a shot like this here for awhile. I've tried before, but was always too slow to the draw. This time I lay wait for the perfect op.:)
@squamloon I finally figured out how to get it back to normal. I am still pretty new with my camera and don't know the ins and outs yet. I usually don't mess with the exposure and did playing once recently and hadn't gotten it back to normal. I finally reset it to 0 and it seems fine now. Can't wait to understand it and know it better! Thanks!
@dreamatrix Thanks so much. I was happy to find a texture that worked so I could save the image!
@katiebrenkert Thanks, Miss Katie. I need me some icecream!! Friday night?
I'm glad! I just noticed that my autocorrect changed "played with the horizon" to "told layer with the horizon". Bet you were confused on that one! :^)
I've found that two things are the most likely cause for me to get out-of-whack pictures: changing the exposure setting, like you did, or changing my ISO to something non-automatic. On both your camera and mine, there's a reset option for just the shooting settings so that you don't lose other setup stuff like date and time and filename sequencing. On your D3000, if you ever find things feel screwy again, select Shooting menu > Reset shooting menu.
@amandal Oh there are so many things to learn, I just learnt another new thing today lol.
These guys I follow on FB and email... that is where I learnt my new thing today from... great info given and in a way we all can understand... https://www.facebook.com/digitalps?fref=ts
@wenbow P.S. I would totally love to do a series of these shots. Love the negative space that the hill creates. I've got to go back this week as I was challenged to do negative space!
Probably a stupid question, but have you tried resetting the camera?
Wonderful shot....
@jodimuli Wouldn't that then make it all shots? haha!!
@cheribug Thanks, Miss Cheryl!!
@3sixty5 Thanks so much, Martine!!

@masosy Aw, you are sweet, my friend. Thank you!
@helixconcepts Thanks, Laura. It was in the 80's today. It's getting HOT. We had to turn our air on. Nuts that it was snowing a couple weeks ago!
@wind_of_the_sothern_sea I totally see that. Thanks, Arefin!! Really appreciate your comments.
