These lovely flowers made me so happy in the preschool parking lot yesterday at pick up. I was again the nutso snapping away crazily at the tree. No wonder I have no friends amongst the preschool parents! At least I wasn't on the ground this time. That is usually the case.
Here is my first take on my negative space challenge. I love shots with negative space, but have a hard time taking them myself. This one could use more, but I so loved the pretty blooms that are new ones to me this year (apricot)?
Last night was photo club and it went MUCH better than last time. The commentator really liked my photo (Winter Backroads from March) and then gave a super helpful talk on taking portraits. She has been a professional for 25+ years and gives personal and group lessons in town. I may just sign up for one of those. Also a couple weeks back one of the photo club members sent me the nicest email telling me that she had really loved my photo last month. It almost made me cry after I had been so discouraged after the harsh critique at my first meeting.
I am learning little helpful tidbits each meeting. I was using one of the focusing techniques learned when I was taking this shot and last night I learned more about flash and exposure compensations. Love to have things deciphered a bit more.
very pretty! if you have more space in the upper left i bet this would be a pretty crop with the blooms making up the lower right corner. may get you some more negative space too.
@ridley Thanks, Michelle. I have a great idea for a negative space shot. Can't wait to hopefully pull it off this weekend. I love when I come up with something like this:))).
@anazad511 Thank you, Miss Ana. I hopefully have a creative negative space shot coming. You will like it as a fellow silly person. Stay tuned...
@bristolrose HA! That is what I keep telling myself! Thanks, lady!!
@katiebrenkert I tried and tried, but had no more room. It was a very loose interpretation of negative space. Hope to do better. I have an idea in the works...I see that blue is back (onto another subject!!). We need to go when it warms up a tad and we can eat outside!!
@barbsmith I am so glad it was better. And I do love that I am learning new things, even though I feel kinda dense for knowing so little. I am now able to select a focus point on my camera and am better understanding flash and exposure compensation. Yeah! Thanks, Barb!
@dh It so wasn't this time. The first time it was pretty horrid (but it was just one person's opinion). I am learning stuff, too, which is great. So much to learn! Thank you!
@kwind Sheesh, me, too. I was ready to quit before I much started. It will be a good thing and I will learn a bunch, I am sure. Much to learn! Thanks, Kim!
@nana2r Thanks, Carren. I get strange looks, that's for sure! I did get a honk the other day. I forget what I was doing? Maybe I was on the ground or bending over.
@bardejov I think that you are right! I had no idea. I love this tree!!! Thanks!
@tanja_1211 Thanks, Tanja. I was so drawn to the warm tones. I loved the peachy flowers against the brown wall. I don't normally see that color in the trees. Usually pinks and white.
Lovely! We have pink dogwoods all over my town and two big ones in my front yard! Yeah, I probably would have placed these lower in the frame, I usually have to try a few times though, because my eyesight has me using the autofocus nowadays, and I keep forgetting that with this camera I have to press the AEL button... I feel ya on that not hitting it off with the other parents: Done there, been that!
The meet up with Mandy was awesome!! I don't think there was a moment of silence once we met ..hehe We ended walking 3 miles that day!! It was fun just shooting and getting to know each other!!! We live about an 1 to 1 1/2 hours away from each other ... not really far!! Hoping to see her again in June (think her hubby has a business trip here in June) so hoping to see her!! I will be seeing Kimberly in a couple of weeks ...we planned a Miami trip so I'm super excited about that!! It will be nice to get some beach time!!! This will be my first time to Miami!!!
@anazad511 Thank you, Miss Ana. I hopefully have a creative negative space shot coming. You will like it as a fellow silly person. Stay tuned...
