I came upon these broken specs when out for my adventure yesterday. I almost passed them by, but then realized that they made an interesting subject all smashed into the gravel road. I also wonder how they got there and where their former owner is? Squinting to see now no doubt.
I've been forced to wear my glasses much of the time lately. I've had a pain in my right eye on and off since December that is brought on by wearing contacts. I saw the doctor about it in December, hadn't noticed it much again, but am seriously annoyed by it now. It is my shooting eye. Must get this resolved.
I've been lacking focus with life at times as a result of my passion for photography. I need to resolve this as well and pour myself into what is most important...balance is the key.
I can relate too Amanda! That is why I have backed off. I find it easy to bury myself in new interests and allow more important things to slide. While photography can be important I don't believe it will hold any great value in eternity.
What a great find Amanada! The composition and dof really make this a powerful image. You will find the balance my friend, just take it one day at a time.
This is a really great find and shot. I think it would be fun on the wall of an Optometrists office...
Hope you get your life sorted, I know I am feeling like that lately.
@bobfoto I am blind as a bat without my glasses. I'd be shooting like a drunk.:) I can shoot fine with glasses. It's a little annoying as the glasses get dirty from shooting, but the eye pain is the main annoynace. Thanks for the follow back.
Love all your thoughts behind this shot. Really gives it meaning even though it stands by itself as a neat shot. I love all the texture of the rocks in this.
Totally great title to shot.
I am feeling sorry for the poor person that broke their specs. I used to work for a gynecologist who I loved dearly that would start his day in the office patting his pockets saying "Spectacles, Testicles" It wasn't sexist - it was just funny.
@adamj I was just telling my friend as we were walking up to this about a Russian Mafia execution that had taken place near to us. There is a shack in the woods that I want to go check out where it happened. When we saw these we wondered a loud if they could have been the dead man's glasses. Weird you should say that. It is kinda eerie, huh? Thanks, Adam.
@amandal I'm not shocked for two reasons. First, I have a gift...lol second, these things do happen and why would specs be left behind. They are kinda essential. Be careful going back to the scene of the crime Amanda.
Neat shot! It makes me wonder as well. How does someone leave without their glasses? I'm assuming they were far sided rather than near sided.
I used to be blind as a bat also without mine. Then I got LASIK, in which I highly recommend if you're able to. It was like a miracle, reaching for my glasses every morning, then realizing I didn't have to wear them anymore:)
@mooie Oh I so want LASIK someday. Thanks for the info, Amanda:).
@bobfoto Nope, I will have to look into that. Taking the glasses on and off seems like a pain, though. I have an eye doctor's appointment next week and will hopefully get the eye issue sorted out.
Thanks all for your lovely comments about this eerie, interesting find. Also appreciate your thoughts and prayers about me being properly balanced and for my eye:). I do have an appointment with the eye doc finally next week. Hope to get this sorted out soon and once and for all.
@still_beachradish Me, too, lady. Such a cool find...and to think I almost passed it by! I always really appreciate your comments. I thought of you the other day when I was taking my minimal reflection boat image.
This is sad. I know what it's like not to have my reading glasses with me.
Such a nuisance to need them, but that's life. I try to lean toward gratefulness that glasses exist, otherwise I wouldn't be able to read at all. :-)
@dandelionmama Surely! yours was better. I liked your cock eyed pov. Thanks, lady!! I saw yours on the fav fav of your project thread and was drawn right in. And thanks for the fav!

Good luck with the balance dilemma. I think we all face that in so many ways in our lives.
Hope you get your life sorted, I know I am feeling like that lately.
hope you get things sorted :)

@bristolrose I have a friend who is an optometrist. I should send the image to him. Great idea:). Thanks!
@denidouble It totally reminds me of John Lennon. Good call. Thanks, Deni!!

I really like this shot and B&W is perfect.
