Unfocused

I came upon these broken specs when out for my adventure yesterday. I almost passed them by, but then realized that they made an interesting subject all smashed into the gravel road. I also wonder how they got there and where their former owner is? Squinting to see now no doubt.

I've been forced to wear my glasses much of the time lately. I've had a pain in my right eye on and off since December that is brought on by wearing contacts. I saw the doctor about it in December, hadn't noticed it much again, but am seriously annoyed by it now. It is my shooting eye. Must get this resolved.

I've been lacking focus with life at times as a result of my passion for photography. I need to resolve this as well and pour myself into what is most important...balance is the key.
I can relate to feeling out of balance right now. It's a constant struggle. Great shot. Something touching about it. Nice focus and processing.

great B&W shot
May 15th, 2013
So interesting shot!
May 15th, 2013
Nice find and capture. I like your processing and I sympathize with your conundrum.
May 15th, 2013
very nice
May 15th, 2013
Such a story shot. I want to know the story behind them or maybe just imagine one.

Good luck with the balance dilemma. I think we all face that in so many ways in our lives.

I love your commentary. The photo, itself, is wonderful. I like the textures, and that the photo tells a story.
May 15th, 2013
I can relate too Amanda! That is why I have backed off. I find it easy to bury myself in new interests and allow more important things to slide. While photography can be important I don't believe it will hold any great value in eternity.

What a great find Amanada! The composition and dof really make this a powerful image. You will find the balance my friend, just take it one day at a time.
May 15th, 2013
Great find. Hope you find a balance that works for you.
May 15th, 2013
This is a really great find and shot. I think it would be fun on the wall of an Optometrists office...
Hope you get your life sorted, I know I am feeling like that lately.
May 15th, 2013
Lovely shot : )
May 15th, 2013
That is a super title to go with this interesting find! Love it.
May 15th, 2013
A great story shot!

hope you get things sorted :)
May 15th, 2013
can you adjust your diopter to allow you to shoot without glasses?
May 15th, 2013
Like this reminds me of john lennon somehow...hope you get your eye trouble resolved soon.
May 15th, 2013
Great title. It's a bit sad seeing those specs lying there xx
May 15th, 2013
Kev
Hope things get sorted. Nice shot though - splendid dof and great choice of b&w.
May 16th, 2013
Nice find. Hope your eyes are better.
May 16th, 2013
You should get that sorted out woman!
Awesome find and shot.
May 16th, 2013
Great find and love your title. My husband wear glasses and he has tendency of leaving them where ever, even on the roof of a car before driving away.
May 16th, 2013
Very cool image. Thought provoking.
May 16th, 2013
@bobfoto I am blind as a bat without my glasses. I'd be shooting like a drunk.:) I can shoot fine with glasses. It's a little annoying as the glasses get dirty from shooting, but the eye pain is the main annoynace. Thanks for the follow back.
May 16th, 2013
neat find
May 16th, 2013
@tbats22 Sanks, my friend. I think that I went with the wrong processing here. Color may have worked better. Shucks.
May 16th, 2013
@amandal nah, i dont think so. the color of the rocks would have overpowered the glasses since they are so thin.
May 16th, 2013
Great find~sending peace and prayers for you!
May 16th, 2013
Love all your thoughts behind this shot. Really gives it meaning even though it stands by itself as a neat shot. I love all the texture of the rocks in this.
May 16th, 2013
Very good find with a poignant story behind it, hope all goes well for you.
May 16th, 2013
@amandal - have you made adjustments to your diopter? I think they can go +/- 2 or 3....
May 16th, 2013
Interesting find and cool pic.
May 16th, 2013
Splendid find! I wish I could find my specs - I'm using reading glasses at the moment.
May 16th, 2013
haha
May 16th, 2013
Totally great title to shot.
I am feeling sorry for the poor person that broke their specs. I used to work for a gynecologist who I loved dearly that would start his day in the office patting his pockets saying "Spectacles, Testicles" It wasn't sexist - it was just funny.
May 16th, 2013
Excellent find and capture. I love the tones and textures!!
May 16th, 2013
@cdonohoue Was it here? Was his name Dick? I know a Dick that was an OBGYN here. He's our neighbor.
May 16th, 2013
Great find, great shot and love your words....I'm still in search of my balance, hence the very sporadic appearances!
May 16th, 2013
Great shot, it does make you wonder about the story behind it. Thanks for the follow :)
May 16th, 2013
Hopefully the dude did not meet a dastardly fate! Nice find and back story Amanda.
May 16th, 2013
@adamj I was just telling my friend as we were walking up to this about a Russian Mafia execution that had taken place near to us. There is a shack in the woods that I want to go check out where it happened. When we saw these we wondered a loud if they could have been the dead man's glasses. Weird you should say that. It is kinda eerie, huh? Thanks, Adam.
May 16th, 2013
@amandal I'm not shocked for two reasons. First, I have a gift...lol second, these things do happen and why would specs be left behind. They are kinda essential. Be careful going back to the scene of the crime Amanda.
May 16th, 2013
Neat shot! It makes me wonder as well. How does someone leave without their glasses? I'm assuming they were far sided rather than near sided.
I used to be blind as a bat also without mine. Then I got LASIK, in which I highly recommend if you're able to. It was like a miracle, reaching for my glasses every morning, then realizing I didn't have to wear them anymore:)
May 16th, 2013
@mooie Oh I so want LASIK someday. Thanks for the info, Amanda:).

@bobfoto Nope, I will have to look into that. Taking the glasses on and off seems like a pain, though. I have an eye doctor's appointment next week and will hopefully get the eye issue sorted out.
May 17th, 2013
@steampowered Hey, Paul...I found them for you. You may need new ones, though:(.

@bristolrose I have a friend who is an optometrist. I should send the image to him. Great idea:). Thanks!

@denidouble It totally reminds me of John Lennon. Good call. Thanks, Deni!!

@pflaume @janpenny @aleksandra @kwind @michaelelliott @alia_801 @johnmnewman @emrob @httpgeffed @archaeofrog @bardejov @helixconcepts @bernadette @snaggy @psychographer @darrenboyj @happysnap @simon0128 @rachelwithey @masosy @skipt07 @taffy @nadaa @abhijit @edie @arina @brav

Thanks all for your lovely comments about this eerie, interesting find. Also appreciate your thoughts and prayers about me being properly balanced and for my eye:). I do have an appointment with the eye doc finally next week. Hope to get this sorted out soon and once and for all.
May 17th, 2013
@amandal - oh good, hope the Doc has some answers!
May 17th, 2013
Love this! cool idea and title
May 17th, 2013
I love all of the stories this image could tell ...
May 19th, 2013
@colie Aw, thanks so much, Miss Colie:)!!

@still_beachradish Me, too, lady. Such a cool find...and to think I almost passed it by! I always really appreciate your comments. I thought of you the other day when I was taking my minimal reflection boat image.

Pea
Really interesting shot Amanda. Love your commentary and the way it fits with your photo and title.
May 19th, 2013
@deeganp Thanks so much, sweet lady!
May 20th, 2013
This is sad. I know what it's like not to have my reading glasses with me.
Such a nuisance to need them, but that's life. I try to lean toward gratefulness that glasses exist, otherwise I wouldn't be able to read at all. :-)

I really like this shot and B&W is perfect.
June 25th, 2013
@pasadenarose Thanks so much. Glad that I came upon this cool sight. Funny.
June 25th, 2013
ah yes! Love it. Great pov and processing. Thanks for sharing with me!
January 13th, 2014
@dandelionmama Surely! yours was better. I liked your cock eyed pov. Thanks, lady!! I saw yours on the fav fav of your project thread and was drawn right in. And thanks for the fav!
