I'm posting early for tomorrow, because it's my little wildflower's birthday. My Emily, my monkey in the middle, turns 7 and we will be partying hard. 7 is big stuff, you know.
I plan to take a portrait of her and will post it this weekend after I recover from the slumber party she's having. And I am already run down...what were we thinking?!
I'm so excited to give Emily her presents. Want to hear the coolest thing she is getting? A coconut. That's right, folks, a coconut in the raw. The kind that you have to crack open. She's wanted one for years. Asks me to get one whenever she sees one, and today I impulsively and finally did. How cool is a birthday coconut? And it was only $2!!!:) Can't wait for her reaction.
Lovely image!I love that your daughter wanted a coconut! What a cool kid.hope she has a wonderful birthday and hope you get a boost of energy ,Amanda..you are going to need it! :)
There is so much you can do with a coconut besides crack someone on the head with it! I love it - absolutely delicious inside! Get plenty of sleep yourself before this slumber party!
Oh that is so awesome! Hope you can capture her excitement when she sees it! Reminds me when we got our grandson a walk man several years ago (just before ipods came out) He was 7 also.. and was SO excited. He said "I have wanted one of these for my WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE"....we use that now when ever we really like something!!
Now, to your photo. I love it! Love fences and wild flowers! This is beautifully composed and love the touch of colors along with the textures of the fence post and wire!! Awesome.
This is is great shot. Happy Birthday to Emily. I think that's a great gift and if she cracks it right and paints it afterwards she will have a special painted cereal bowl...or something like that. I loved coconuts when I was a kid., I am sure she will love it.
Love the contrast of the rusty barb wire against the soft flowers in the background. Great story about the birthday coconut - would love to see photos of the surprise and/or the effort opening haha!
That's so crazy... my 7 year old begged for a coconut for forever! I also impulse bought one a month or so ago. Guess what? He hated it! LOL! I on the other hand, devoured it readily! YUM!
gorgeous tones and composition. i love all the parts and colors of the fence. happy bday to emily...the best gifts are the natural ones. haha. bet she screams with happiness.
Thank you all so much for your comments on the photo and on Emily's birthday, sending wishes and such. We had a great day celebrating Emily...she loved the coconut (at least getting it...maybe not the actual taste so much) and we survived the slumber party with most of the night's worth of sleep.
@seejillrun How crazy...it's like the same story. Em wasn't super into the taste of hers either, but she was so super excited to get it. Thanks, Jill!
@thirtysevenways Thanks...I think that she and your son are a day apart. When was his? Hers was the 27th. Hope that things are going well zith you all:).
Félix is the 24th. Both Librans like me :) I was on a French keyboard and all the letters are in the wrong place. I am forever typing q instead of a :)
@thirtysevenways I figured. I typo all the time when I use my hubby's smartphone for comments. It's embarrassing. Just razzing you for fun. So he turned 5? They are 2 years apart and a few days. Cool. How did your party stuff go?
@amandal yes 5, went really well. He was very happy and loved his cake and piñata. He has a lovely group of friends and invited both boys and girls so for now it is not all about testosterone driven toys and behavior :)
Beautiful shot btw :)
