Stepping Alone into the Great Unknown by alophoto

Stepping Alone into the Great Unknown

Yesterday Clara and I took the dog for a walk at a local park, let the pup play (or lay...she's a lazy girl) at the dog park there. These are the steps leading up to the park. I always love them. I've tried to get shots of them. This time I asked Clara to stand still at the end and she let me get a few shots. Often they are moving and the shots are a blur.

I like the mood this captured, though. Loved the dappled light through the trees, the lines of the stairs and rails, and the sweet, unsure child about to venture out. Also, though the greens were lovely, I think it distracted from the mood I was looking for.

Thanks for all your kind words and faves on our great big pile of fun family portrait yesterday.

Also, join Mad Hatters this week @madhatters with your classical and opera music shots... tag them: madhatters-classical to play along.
knew this was yours! A lovely feel to it.

@newbank @peter_1966 @gwhit123 @denisefuller

Thanks, guys. Feeling a little off kilter today. The image looked a bit crooked and I attempted straightening it, but then I haven't had my Wheaties yet:). So appreciate your kind comments!

@amandal me too....perhaps that's why I didn't notice at all. Still don't.....
September 16th, 2014
@newbank I think it's good now. Shew:).

She does indeed look like she is entering another world.
September 16th, 2014
Love the mood and curiousity! Great shot and I agree - good choice on the B&W!

September 16th, 2014
Fabulous capture!
September 16th, 2014
Yes the b&w works so well. Love the contrast between the dark staircase the the pretty dappled light through the trees.
September 16th, 2014
There is a small community park not too far from our daughter's house that has a nature trail and some stairs that resemble these.
September 16th, 2014
Excellent shot
September 16th, 2014
@bill_fe Thank you for getting me here. I really loved this one:).
September 16th, 2014
@fullcircle Thanks so much for that, Cindy!!!
September 16th, 2014
fabulous composition! fav
September 16th, 2014
She definitely adds to the mystery!
September 16th, 2014
@amandal For getting YOU here? I don't understand.
September 16th, 2014
@bill_fe Never mind. You don't get me;-). No, that you liked this one, too. I thought it was amazing...in my mind anyway. Not so much from my 365 friends. I'm hemmoraging followers these days. I don't think I am stinking? Sniffs self. Am I?
September 16th, 2014
Great shot- love the scenery!
September 16th, 2014
@amandal Well now I understand what you meant. I like this one a lot. I don't know about hemorrhaging followers. You have so many. I currently have 117 following me. I did a quick look, the only one I notice missing is ms hope. It's been a while since she's commented on my photos, so she may have been gone for a while now.
You are not stinking. Maybe because you've done fewer selfies? It seems they get a lot of hits, but then so did your civil war series.

I thinks I got a couple good shots before work this morning. I got my pants wet up to my knees in dew in a prairie.
Will be posting in a few hours, still at work now. Let me know how you like my main album post from yesterday 'mischievous' ;-) I think you'll appreciate the tags too.
September 16th, 2014
@bill_fe Looking forward to seeing them. I was shooting fall today, though it is still summer. So feels like fall. I've lost 20 or so in recent while. I've been losing people daily. Maybe that happens when you don't follow back often, don't often thank, and don't comment regularly. Oh well. Hope it's not because my work sucks:).
September 16th, 2014
@amandal It's hard to keep up with so many. I'm lucky (so far) that I can get away with this at work.
September 16th, 2014
@amandal Which was the reason for my simulated sin shot a week or so ago. At least I feel guilty when I'm doing this at work! ;-)
September 16th, 2014
It's a very thought provoking capture - I particularly like the contrast of the dark steps and the light through the trees.
September 17th, 2014
Lovely shot!!!
September 17th, 2014
The B&W really simplifies what could be a busy shot. Nice!
September 17th, 2014
Wonderful pov and processing, great shot
September 17th, 2014
This is a wonderful shot of Clara, Amanda. I love your processing too. You have that photographic eye which shows in all of your photos. FAV

This is a very neat shot. Love the way you are drawn in..and up.
September 17th, 2014

Beautiful. Love your pov. fav
September 21st, 2014
This is lovely and has such a great mood like you say. I love this kind of shot (and I'll have some to post soon!).
September 22nd, 2014
Beautiful photo. I think the greenery adds a sense of wonderment to the picture, alluding to the big wide world your little one can explore.
September 22nd, 2014
Just saw this in the b&w thread and am glad you posted. I like the mood a lot. The lighting is wonderful and it looks so tranquil. The steps are terrific to lead into the image (and it looks like quite a climb from your POV).
