Here is a slightly different version/edit of my Mad Hatters shot this week. I've decided to post it as I have been issued a 5 day b&w challenge by two Hatter friends. So here is day 1 of my challenge.
And a big reason I was completely freaked out by mirrors for a quite bit as a kid. The Watcher in the Woods really messed me up and it was a Disney movie for crying out loud.
It was the girl in the mirror that kept appearing throughout the movie that did it for me. Reaching and trying to get out. A freakin' ghost girl in a mirror, haunting kids...one was my age even.
I'm sure if I watched the movie now, it would be hokey as heck, but back then, oh man...I was disturbed and so effected.
Funny how movies can do that. There was the one that makes me afraid to swim in the ocean and the one that wrecked showers for me...the one that even made me hate dolls.
Funny back story behind this shot: I'm once again wearing the Carrie dress that I managed to get the bloodstains out of, my blindfold is my daughter's confiscated blanket (we had to take it away to prevent her from sucking her thumb), I did this with the 10 second timer and ran to get into place blindfold on (that was dumb), this was my first shot, I think. And truth be told, I got totally creeped out doing this. Michael had just left for the evening, I was in an open window which looked into the woods (where there are watchers...come on!!), the house started having all these creaks and noises, and when I went upstairs to take a shower and was apprehensive of a visit from Norman, the lights went out. Damn it!!!
@bill_fe 10 tops. Maybe younger. Really don't know for sure. It was on VHS and I was soooooo scared after that for weeks, months. I so would not let my kids NEAR such a thing.
PS, I still love the processing on this.
