A filler in green - for both the theme and St Paddy's Day. I'd love to know what kind of bee this is because it isn't a regular honey bee and seemed to be solitary.
@corymbia@robv - I'm gonna say a Male Blue Banded Bee. They look a little different to the ladies, they have an extra stripe and I can count 5 here. And they (if I get this right) are nectar feeders only. The ladies need nectar for energy to collect the pollen so Basil and other blue flowering plants are perfect for this as they release stuff all pollen and only nectar. Now if I got that wrong its just about swapping pollen for nectar...
@bobfoto I don't think this is a Blue-banded Bee, the underside of the abdomen is adapted to carry pollen like many Leafcutter Bees. That would make this a Megachilid not an Apid(formerly Anthophoridae).
