Mottisfont

Last day of our weekend away.
We visited a few churches before dropping in to Montisfont Abbey, for coffee, lunch and to 'use the facilities'.
We expected to be there just over an hour, we reluctantly dragged ourselves away after about 2 hours.
If you are ever in the Romsey area, go and visit - it is one of he most beautiful houses I have ever visited!
The picture shows the water flowing out of the natural 'font' or well - which is 18 feet deep, and carefully fenced!
Admittedly we visited on a quiet and overcast Monday in October, but t was so peaceful. it was once an Abbey, and you can feel the prayer that has soaked into the place.
The food is good also (unlike Hidcote ) hot tasty food at excellent prices.

There was so much that we didn't have time to do, half the riverside walk was closed, and we missed out the house, so we MUST return, sometime!

Back to the photo, this was taken standing in the stream, looking up at the font.

I wonder if Jo has been here....lots of lovely trees! :)
Beautiful capture of this cascade. Very peaceful landscape.

I have, and I remember the trees very well!
Did you find the mosaic of the angel? I loved that too.

@jolie37 We only had time for a quick visit and no, we didn't get to the angel, but that is a very good excuse to return!

Nice shot - we often visit Mottisfont. Come in summer when the roses are at their best and certainly take in the house. We always take a handful of fish food to feed the trout as well. Did you include East Wellow church where Florence Nightingale is buried?
