My son has been playing Tenor Saxophone since 1998. He was born to play music. He started young, playing Clarinet and advanced to Tenor Sax. He is currently part of our local Junior College Jazz Band where we enjoy performances each Semester. Tonight he agreed to let me take photos of him playing his Sax. I wished we had a beautiful sunset background at the park and hope to at some point in time, but for now took photos in our backyard and chose B&W as I liked the look a lot better.
@ellimae Thank you, Ellen. I love the Sax also. My husband and I are hoping he continues playing in the band next year as he really enjoys it and is really good. It is a friend for him as he picks it up and plays just to play or picks up and plays his guitar. Love watching and listening to him.
Great shot Darlene - l love the sax, and admire anyone who can play an instrument ....a very memorable moment for me as a mother was listening to my daughter practicing the flute in her bedroom while my youngest son was playing the piano in the lounge.
@annbo Thank you, Ann. I love his saxophone playing so much. So true, life, movies, etc. would be so boring and quiet without music and photography. We need them both.
@michelle58 Thank you very much, Michelle. I love the sax also and admire my son playing it so well. His gift in life, music. How nice to have such a wonderful memory of your daughter on the flute in her bedroom, my son has always played his sax in his bedroom, and your youngest son playing the piano. There is nothing like having them play in the house. I love it and glad you got to share in the same thing.
@mittens Thank you, Marilyn. My son was born to play and picked up his Clarinet and played it nearly perfect the first day of class. No stopping him after that. I would have loved to play the piano but no money for lessons growing up so self taught myself on a small organ that my parents bought. Wish I could have learned as an adult as my husband, son and I all enjoy music in our house as often as we can.
@grammyn Thank you very much for your comments, Katy. I took so many photos of him inside our house and outside. Got lucky and got one good one as he packed it up soon after this.
@marlboromaam Thank you so much, Maggie. Appreciate your comments as always. When I changed this to B&W, what a huge difference. Not the background I would have chosen but got him to let me take photos. Creating memories.
@jayberg Thank you so much for your comments. Much appreciated. I liked it in color as I went through them to find my favorite and when I changed it to B & W, wow what a difference. How something so simple changes how a photo looks.
What a great shot, Darlene! I love it in B&W, too. My son played the saxophone as well (soprano) and at 38 is still very much into music. It really is something that stays with you all your life.
Very cool! Sounds like a talented guy!!! Looks great in b&w! We have some musical people in our fam too, just one me. I take after my mom...we make a joyful noise! Ha!
@tobi Thank you so much for your comments, Santina. I was happy to have my son finally agree to let me take photos. So true, music is a part of his life forever.
@bkbinthecity Thank you very much. My son was really lucky to have music come so naturally to him. I know others who have tried playing but it was not meant to be. Takes a lot of wind, blowing into it also.
@numinee Thank you for your comments, Sally. How nice that your son played the soprano sax and is still very much into music. So true, it is really something that stays with you all of your life.
@wannabe Thank you so much for your comments, Catherine. He is very talented. He plays all saxophones but this is his main one, the guitar, and sings but that needs some practice. Always hoping he will do something with his music that makes him some money. You are too funny, Catherine.
@maggiemae The Tenor Sax is a large and beautiful instrument. I am so glad he has continued playing it. He is too good to stop. We keep pushing him and he loves it and his guitar so I really encourage him. I would be the Mom out there rooting for him all the time.
@bobbyj Thank you very much, Bobby. You have done some awesome photos, would you do something that would Jazz up this photo? You can say anything as I as sitting here replying back and started thinking that with all the cool things that can be done online today and me at home and not many options or places here to take photos of him, I would love to have done something creative with this or another similar photo taken the same time but liked after posting this one.
@pammerritt Thank you so much, Pam. That is fantastic that your daughter plays the Alto and Tenor Sax. My son plays all saxophones but this is the main one he plays. I will miss my son playing around the house when he moves out but hope he plays somewhere somewhere that we can see him.
