FW3/24

This pillbox can be found in a field near Bognor Regis. It is one of many of this type (FW3/24) built to defend this country in the event of a German invasion in 1941/42. They were of brick and concrete construction and were initially just bulletproof, but this one, along with many others, had additional strengthening added later to make them "shellproof". This one is slowly crumbling away and unless preserved will eventually deteriorate so badly the local authority will be forced to demolish another part of our history.
