Every twenty-six million years, Nemesis, the second sun, crosses the Oort Cloud of comets disrupting them and sending a rain of meteors toward the inner planets of the solar system. Destruction can last decades with meteors smashing into Earth and causing mass extinctions at a regular and predictable rate.
Now, why on Earth shouldn't you join the fiveplustwo weekly theme?
Science fiction no. 3
Sorry for lack of commenting and response to your question earlier in the week. I never seem to have enough hours in the day any more :( xx Big fav for this btw
Every time this happens I don't get picked up and taken away...I'm a bit miffed. I'll have to settle for looking up and yelling "Take me, I'm yours!!!"
@swillinbillyflynn Palentologists date the last mass extinction at the beginning of the Oligocene - 33 to 23 million year ago - As I have not witnessed a meteor rain over the last 7 million years, it could be anywhere in the next three million... I would keep the underground bunker ready 😉 @vignouse thank you! I wouldn't stress at all. As the Chinese said: «if there's a remedy, why worry? And if there's no remedy, why worry?» @mikegifford ahahah need to check over the next 3 million years, dear Mike! Just a little patience!
@runner365 yes it is! Thank you!
