One Boxer of Mont'e Prama

In 1974 in Cabras, Sardinia, they discovered a necropolis with 5,000+ fragments of these statues, deliberately shattered. They date between 11th and 9th Century b.c. (Nuragic civilization), and their size (about 2,5m height) and technique of carving out of one single stone block makes them an unicum and a mystery. Scientists say there were no real giants in Sardinia ( @kali66 ) but these stone ones.
Better on black.
i was just told that Sardinian red is best for your health. drink responsibly though and don't be boxing with this guy.

How extraordinary to be able to see and touch something so old it's well beyond my comprehension. What a shame they were deliberately shattered.

@summerfield @domenicododaro Isn't it considered to be bad manners to count?

@golftragic I do remember visiting Egypt, certain old magnificent bas-reliefs dating back 5000 years b.c. defaced a few years after being carved, because they depicted the former Pharaoh... Power games... Bad manners boxing with the guy?

@domenicododaro We're going to Egypt next year, looking forward to seeing the antiquities there, we don't have any in Oz other than a few rock paintings.

@golftragic You'll love it. Its far beyond imagination and TV documentaries. Enjoy!
