2015 July 4: This is a collage of images from our day-long celebration today.
As is my family's tradition, we celebrated July 4 with homemade Chicken Stew and Barbeque. (My son graciously began cooking Barbeque in our smoker shortly after midnight last night to have it deliciously well-done and falling apart in time for our meal!) For dessert we had our traditional Cream Cheese Delight (a dessert made with cream cheese, confectioner's sugar, and whipped cream in a flour-and-butter crust ...It has quite a few calories!) topped with blueberries and strawberries.
As night falls each July 4 our neighborhood comes alive with fireworks displays. It was the same this year: Despite a steadily-falling drizzle this evening, so many of our neighbors shot off fireworks that I couldn't turn around fast enough to see them all! As I began trying to capture snapshots of this beautiful sight, I regretted not having paid more attention to all of the "how to take better fireworks photos" tutorials that I had recently seen online... I'll be practicing to be ready for next year!
For now, though, I will enjoy the memories of this wonderful day of celebration with my family!
