I was putting my things on the student desks to get my purse and camera out of the cabinet. I looked over and saw this insect menagerie on two of my girls' desks. They will make sure to set them free tomorrow. I tell them I don't want them to keep the poor guys more than one day. They need to be free.
The water in the first cup is sugar water...I found out that this student brought sugar to make sugar water for her insect catching quest at recess. Notice the specimen numbering system! Wow.
The middle cup is a moth of course. The last cup has a lady bug. I think the first cup is to recapture the moth she let loose in our room yesterday...string in sugar water....to lure it back in. I will have to ask tomorrow.
I am going to MISS these kids come May 24.
Do you think the fact that I notice and take photos of insects has influenced them?
LOL... this looks like my house... minus the string and numbering.. but Oskar currently has a caterpillar and a moth, which he has named, "Mothy" lol. He had 2 snails up until yesterday too... he set them free when we found the ones I got shots of yesterday.
L am sure they would be influenced by your shots , because they are cool, and also your enthusiasm ...as a parent, we love our kids to get teachers like you:)
reminds me of the song "children will listen"; children do pay attention no matter how much we try to conceal anything to them. and when you get your students interested in things they normally won't care for, it means you are a good teacher. kudos, MB.
@rachelwon1122 Yes, I have let you guys go totally out of control with the bug ranch...but it is the end of the year, so it is okay. Just don't start off next year trying to put bugs on your desk. Your teacher needs you paying attention! :))
