I'm not really into flowers even though I can appreciate their beauty. I'd rather get tickets to a Yankees game, to be honest. But today someone gave me a flower at work. It was sweet.
Edited with snapseed to make it more interesting.
I never try to look a gift horse in the mouth but there are some gifts that maybe other women enjoy and I do not prefer. Like flowers. Other things I rather get myself than be given to me are: clothes, perfume, jewelry.
Gifts I love... Gift certificates, even if they seem impersonal. Getting treated to a day at a spa. Or "practical" things I can use that I may not get myself. A friend of mine got me an electronic hand soap dispenser and I loved it. One year I really wanted a sonic care toothbrush so my husband got it for me for my birthday. One of his best gifts yet. The first being a heated mattress pad for the winter.
Are there any gifts that just totally rock your world? Have you ever given a gift to someone (material or not) that made you feel good for being able to give it?
The woman that puts up with me got me really, really nice shaving cream, face wash, and cologne for my birthday one year. I loved how practical the gifts were but also the quality of them.
Lovely image. You did a nice job with your presentation Ms. T :) Given a flower at work huh? Must be nice! The best gift I ever received was from my well to do uncle. He has an expense account at Paul Stewart and told me to go in there and pick out any suit I wanted. I just had to give the salesman my uncles name. Now that was something! I love buying clothes. A gift that made me feel amazing giving it... That same uncle was having surgery some years ago. He wanted his family to donate blood. I was right there for him.
Ohhhhh I disagree. Flowers get me every time, all day every day (Omes has it easy - lol!). Best gift I ever gave was the book we made for MMcD for her birthday. Best gift I ever got was the 20 spot you gave me some years back. Lol. It was so me!
@snaphappy1 Ahhh! I didn't realize you were a flower girl! Also yes, would have to agree with you about the book we made for MMcD. (Lolz at that abbreve). I remember that $20 spot. We went to Duane Reade, right?
Love the processing on this, T, but I'm sorry the flower wasn't something you wanted.
I love finding the right gift, but you have to listen carefully. Dad's getting a field guide to birds for Father's Day (but I hope he still calls and asks me what he's seeing), sis is getting one of those uber-cushy floor mats for her kitchen, other sis is getting ticket and backstage pass for Tommy Emmanuel this September -- thought she was gonna wet herself! Me? I like being taken out for lunch!
@carolb thanks! You're right. Being a good gifter involves listening and trying to figure out what will resonate with the other person. Being taken out to eat is never a bad gift to get in my book either!
