I had trouble deciding what photo to take that would kind of capture what my dad is about. Because, you see, as most fathers or men out there -- it's hard to have a photo sum it up.
My dad loves hats. He likes them and we like them on him. I still remember this old grey hat he used to wear to and from work almost every day. This is not the hat. It is a new one and he looks quite dashing in it.
I am three parts my dad to two parts my mom. I think I get my obsession with cologne/perfume from him. I have his hands and his nose. I look like him. I think the reason I also have chosen a helping profession is from him too. Never once did I hear this man complain about his job. And I always admired his passion for his work.
For Father's Day, we had a family barbecue which involved a couple of other fathers in our extended family (including his brother) and all their children. My dad is always the quiet one in the background, smiling, because what makes him happiest is when he is around family.
My dad is also the good doctor and is always on call. To illustrate...My cousin's son had some type of rash on his face which my cousin had written off as "sunburn" but my dad gently swooped in to examine him and got some medical cream to treat what turned out to be an allergic reaction. Then he helped both my sisters with medical issues that day too. One included a kind of scary incident in which my sister thought she was going to die on a kitchen floor. Thankfully all is well with both!
Even on HIS day, he was still helping others.
He is not perfect. But no one is. And without my mom, he would not be a dad. Even though this picture is mainly about him, it's really about both of them. So! Cheers to my parents, but especially to my dad on this day.
And Happy Father's Day to all the men out there who are privileged to earn that title!
Great tribute! Love your dad. You're right, always on the outskirts but you can tell he is paying attention to everything. It's great when he laughs when we are acting stupid. Lol. Hope you had a nice time!
