Iconic yellow NYC taxis turn green? No, your eyes do not deceive you. Don't adjust your screen. The picture isn't edited. This NYC taxi is, in fact, green and I've been wanting to snap a picture of it. But you gotta be above 110th to see these green cabs and I finally saw one this morning. Don't worry, the yellow cabs still exist and are a-plenty. These are uptown cabs. Because, as my fellow New Yorkers know, when you wanna catch a cab to Harlem or Washington Heights or out to the boroughs, a yellow cabbie has to take you there but usually not without a grunt or groan. Sometimes they won't even take you, even if they are supposed to.
Quick iPhone shot so it's shitty. The full story is here for those who are curious:
I really like the way this is framed.; The cab leading to the scaffold, people and then to the nice light of the street and homes. Darn you do great photos with the I phone.
Ridiculous idea. Tradition should rule the day. So what's next, each neighborhood has it's own color designation for cabs? Pretty cool color though...hahaha. Thanks for bringing this to us T.
@adamj I don't think it's ridiculous actually and tradition still rules. Clearly you haven't been stuck in Washington heights at 2 am in the morning and need to go back downtown to go home. Or need to go out to Queens after getting shitfaced in manhattan and no cabbie will take you home and all you wanna do is just get sick in your own toilet. The green cans won't shy away from those undesirable neighborhoods. We all can't live in UWS, can we now?
