Actually, it's not. I have nothing to tell. Although if you ask me a question, I'll probably have a response. Not necessarily an answer.
Made fresh guacamole tonight. The recipe I loosely follow calls for:
3 haas avocados
1 diced tomato
1 diced onion (I like to use red)
1/2 minced jalepeño pepper
1 clove garlic minced
1/4 tsp of cumin
Splash of freshly squeezed lime
and a drizzle of Olive Oil
Salt
Pepper
Not happy with the pic I took but it's all I got for tonight. The guac itself is pretty good, if I do say so myself. Once at work, I mentioned that I think I make a pretty good guacamole. Wasn't bragging and didn't even say I made 'the best'. I just said that it was my OPINION that I make it well. I've been told so by others. (And yes I know that saying about opinions and assholes -- everyone has one and all of 'em stink.) But whatevs. Anyway, when I said this, some person went on to talk about Jesus and how self-pride is a sin and a bunch of other stuff that I thought was out of left-field.
I was like...HOLD THE FUCK ON. I wasn't going anywhere near that. So I just shut up and smiled. Didn't want to get into a fight. No need to pick that battle. I'm not a religious personal at all. I'm spiritual, maybe. I also think people confuse religiosity with being good and righteous. But that's a conversation I won't get into here. I don't push my ideas on others and respect other people's wishes to believe in whatever they want to believe. I don't judge or think more or less of them if they are religious or don't believe in a god. So I really don't like when people proselytize and judge me for what I believe (or don't.)
No thank you.
Anyway...it's Tell it all Tuesday. Got anything to tell? Ask? ;)
First, I like the pic. Second, I'm sure you make good guac. Third...wtf! Totally unnecessary of that person to throw Jesus' name around when talking about your guac making skills. Lol. I CAN"T STAND when people offer unsolicited opinions/judgements.
@islandk8 thanks, K! And yes what the hell does Jesus have to do with guacamole. I can't stand when people offer unsolicited opinions without a moment's pause. I mean, it's rare but sometimes I've gotten really helpful unsolicited opinions or offerings but they happen to be the ones that are well thought out and respectful even if they are in disagreement.
@paulie some recipes call for using fresh chopped cilantro which I like but husband does not so I don't put it in. And some add a little cayenne pepper for more heat. It's really easy to make.
You know what's the biggest sin in this whole sitchy-ation? The fact that I can't have you're world famous guac right now. Looks so good. I hate when people take things so literally. Get a grip people. Sheesh.
Looks like it should turn out well. I'm usually in a rush when I make it, So I just use the jarred Jalapenos and Avocado. Simple, and works well.
I remember as a kid, seeing commercials about California Avocados and asked my mom to get me one sometime, as I had never had one. I was thinking it was going to be a sweet fruit, and when she finally picked me up one and gave it to me, I was all excited to try something new. When I had my first bite, I was like, WTF!?! gross! Such disappointment :/ Eventually I learned about guac and came to appreciated them :)
@snaphappy1 it's a sin that I can't have your world famous chili.
@baznman lol I remember feeling that way about avocados when I first tasted them. Thought it was slimy. I really should try the jarred jalapeños when I am pressed for time.
do you think that how we prepare our food tells us anything about our personalities? Your dicing Ms T appears to be very regular and neat and your board is organised - I wonder if that is mirrored in other elements of your life!
Pass out copies of "Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth" by Reza Aslan. Historical account of Jesus the human. Then offer some guac as they sit down to read.
Nice pic. Your chopping skills are so choice!
