Not a very good quality image today, but I wanted to share with you a special event that took place this afternoon.
To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, 12 spitfire aircraft took off from Humberside airport and split into three flights, with each flight flying over a different part of Yorkshire.
By the time this flight passed over York about 4:20pm, the day had become very dark and gloomy and rain was threatening, so it was very hard to get a crisp clear shot.
After downloading the images, I tried to lighten the aircraft in this shot, which then gave me an almost white sky - so I thought I would add a blue sky to give me the kind of day that I would have preferred!
Thank you very much for all your lovely comments.
Richard, there are 18 hurricanes and 6 spitfires flying in the south of England today. It would be wonderful to have seen them all take off!
Ian
Sorry, today's flight is 18 spitfires and 4 hurricanes, and they flew from Biggin Hill. They just made the national news.
