Saltburn Funicular Railway by fishers

Saltburn Funicular Railway

Three more shots showing the easy way up the cliff at Saltburn-by-the-Sea. The left hand shot shows the kiosk at the top of the ascent, where the filling of the water tank and the control of the brakes takes place.

The central shot shows a side view of one of the cars at the top of the ascent. The stained glass windows can be seen.

The right hand shot shows the two cars ascending and descending. It was taken from the pier.

They have a very similar one at Lynton and Lynmouth in Devon. Fav

I find this system very interesting. It reminds me an outing last summer where we saw the only Marine railway transporting boats up and across a road down to another lake. if you care to see this picture. here is the link. http://media.365project.org/1/6084539_dfjk345789_m.jpg
