Today was rather hectic, with an early train to visit my mum. This afternoon I took her out for a walk in her wheelchair. Quite close to where she lives there is an area of land which has long been disused and derelict. Quite recently a cycle path has been constructed through the site, and nature has reclaimed much of the land, with a variety of bushes and wild flowers. This track is smooth and level - ideal for a wheelchair user, and it gave mum chance to see some of the local nature (and for me to exercise my camera!).
This shot is a close-up of the blossom of a hawthorn bush. Hawthorn is also known as the May-tree, due to the period when it flowers. It is the only British plant named after the month in which it blooms.
Thank you all for your comments and favs, they are greatly appreciated - they also put this shot on the trending and popular pages!
Yesterday was a beautiful spring day, and it was nice to take mum out for a short walk. Sadly, today has gone back to being cold and grey.
